We can do better

There are many changes that could be made to the Journalism study program. Regarding the subjects that are studied, I think it would be very good if I was given the possibility of delving into some subjects such as economics, politics or culture, since the courses are usually introductory. In addition, the degree is very oriented to the academic investigation of communication theory, but I think that this should be a possibility and not an obligation. I also think it is a career that could last four years instead of five. Maybe leave the fifth year to do the thesis exclusively. The workload I think is appropriate, but it can be somewhat excessive at times, especially when doing long recording and video editing sessions. Something that could be improved is the use of technological tools. Some of them are not used, such as programming for the development of software that can be used in investigative pieces. There are currently large journalistic investigations tha...

To infinity and beyond

I am a fan of science fiction, so I have thought about the possibility of traveling to the future on more than one occasion. I think that a point in history that I would like to visit would be the human colonization of other planets, the arrival on Mars for example. I would find it interesting to see if humanity has advanced far enough not to make the same mistakes. If we will treat the new worlds we reach better or if we will exploit them as we did with this one.   Perhaps in these new adventures we could meet other civilizations. I think then there will also be a test for humanity. On the one hand, we could find a more advanced society, which could lead us to be more humble with what surrounds us. But we could also discover a society that is less technologically advanced. At that time we will have to be up to the task and avoid a colonization such as the European one in America. As to whether or not I would stay in that future, I think it will depend on how t...

Meet Yoko!

Since I was a child I have always had pets, especially dogs. When I was 7 years old my parents brought two twin dogs home, they were small but grew to be large dogs. They had black hair and were always chasing some animals that went into the yard. Their names were Junior and Rufo, I still remember them very fondly. I am currently living with Yoko, a medium sized dog with a white body and black head and ears. She is very affectionate and likes to jump into beds to sleep. We go for walks every day, but she is very nervous and barks at the other dogs. Sometimes, when we are walking, she meets cats and for some reason she does not bark at them, she stares at them as if hypnotized.   Something that is a bit annoying is that it always leaves hair on the clothes, the carpet and the armchair. I have to be vacuuming and brushing clothes continuously. But it is a small price that does not compare to all the love he gives to all of us.

"Gotta Catch 'Em All !!"

One of the series that I enjoyed the most in my childhood was Pokemon. I spent hours watching the episodes. They usually started around the same time I got home from school. I loved following the stories of Ash, Misty and Brock, especially when they competed in the Pokemon League. After a while, other generations of Pokémon appeared and then I lost interest a bit. There is nothing like the originals.   Another of my favorite series was "Hey Arnold." The story follows Arnold and all the tenants of his grandparents' house. One of the things I liked the most was Arnold's room, especially that it had a big window in the ceiling where he could see the stars at night. I think that many times they addressed deep issues and not at all easy, but they did it in an intelligent and appropriate way so that a child can understand them. One of the episodes that I liked the most is when Arnold and his grandmother release a turtle from the aquarium in the city.

2017: "Chico Trujillo" in "Las Tejas"

The best concert I have ever been to was held in 2017, in a small bar called "Las Tejas", in Santiago. The band that performed was “Chico Trujillo”, a well known cumbia band that was born in Villa Alemana, Valparaíso Region, and now spend long periods abroad, where they also listen to them.   The place was full of people, the event was sold out. A friend accompanied me and we waited for the start of the show drinking “terremoto”. When it started, the audience immediately began to dance and sing. As the place was small, there was intense heat and the sound of the music was deafening. With my friend we stayed until the end of the presentation. We had met more people and we were having a great time. Once the show was over they put on music and some of the musicians came down from the stage to participate in the party. It was so much fun that I kept the ticket.

Australia, here we go!

Hello! For this first post I'm going to write about a place I would like to go. That place it's Australia! That gigantic country it's fascinating, but I have to be honest about my real intentions to travel to “the land down under”. The truth is that my girlfriend’s sister lives there, and she have a daughter (Fernanda’s niece, of course), so now that I have a job I’m saving money to surprise her with the airplane tickets.    I don’t really know much about Australia, except that there are a lot of wild animals. Maybe that will be scary. Another thing that I know about the country it’s that there are really modern cities, with amazing buildings. One thing I would like to do there it’s to visit the Opera House in Sidney, although our final destination it’s Perth, at the other side of the country. For the moment I don’t want to live there, or even go to study, but maybe after the visit I could change my mind. Bye, see you next time!
